FAQs

Antique chests of drawers typically feature period joinery, traditional timber construction, and distinct hardware styles that reflect the craftsmanship of their era of manufacture.

These items are constructed from solid hardwoods and veneers such as walnut, oak, or mahogany, often utilizing hand-cut dovetail joints on the drawer construction and traditional timber panels.

Authenticity is identified through construction hallmarks such as hand-cut dovetailing, tool marks, patination on the timber, original brass hardware, and secondary woods consistent with the period.

A period chest of drawers functions effectively as a focal storage piece in contemporary bedrooms or living spaces, providing textural contrast when paired with minimalist or modern decor.

Preservation requires maintaining stable indoor humidity levels, avoiding direct sunlight to prevent timber fading, and occasionally applying traditional beeswax to nourish the wood surface.
