Prometheus Antiques has dated this piece to the Regency era.
She stands in a room setting leaning against a chair and next to a table set with sewing items. The work is in very good condition, with only the odd minor mark. The piece is finely detailed particularly in the face and is a perfect record of this lady. The painting is mounted in the original gilt frame which does have some slight overpaint but is in great condition. There is a label on the reverse which is somewhat faded but it can be read that the work was done in 1823 and gifted in 1867. This is a lovely example of Regency period portraiture and ready to hang.
