This is a superb quality vintage English 16th century Gothic style four poster bed, with a Pugin influence, constructed from solid oak, featuring a stunning carved headboard and posts, which fits a UK 5ft wide king size mattress, circa 1930, in excellent condition.
This is a superb quality bed finished in a golden oak colour, having been handmade in England from solid oak. The bed is in the style of the Gothic period, which dates from between the 12th to the 16th Century in England. This bed shows exceptional craftsmanship and carved detail. All panels (including the headboard) are detachable for ease of transport, easy access into a house and up staircases). This bed fits up to a standard UK king size mattress (5ft wide x 6ft 6 long).
The headboard can be dismantled into panels (if necessary) to allow easy access up narrow staircases or through doorways. The Gothic style four poster bed is constructed in the traditional manner with mortise, tenon & peg joints. The headboard consists of several carved panels and rails with a pierced gallery above two horizontal pierced & carved panels and five tracery panels below. The central tracery panel is decorated with a star, flanked by smaller tracery panels. The posts are decorated with lozenge and floral shaped carvings, capped with arched finials. The base of the bed

This is a superb quality vintage English 16th century Gothic style four poster bed, with a Pugin influence, constructed from solid oak, featuring a stunning carved headboard and posts, which fits a UK 5ft wide king size mattress, circa 1930, in excellent condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges, but nothing significant, considering the age of the item. This bed has been cleaned and wax polished in our workshop to a professional standard, therefore the colour and finish is of an excellent standard. It is an extremely well made, heavy and solid in joint. There are no veneers on this bed either; it is made of solid oak. The bed boasts exquisite carvings, un-paralleled in terms of detail, intricacy and quality. This bed is of superior quality and construction, and is no comparison to similar beds in the market place today.
