A small Georgian mahogany Linen Press, converted to a hanging wardrobe, dating from the early 19th Century. It has an unusual and attractive bow front with two cupboard doors over drawers. The cupboard doors have oval flame mahogany panels and open to reveal a brass hanging bar. It would have originally had linen slides which have now been removed to be used as a wardrobe. The drawers have brass plate handles and the whole piece stands on sweeping bracket feet.
It is a good quality piece with elegant Georgian proportions. The grain of the flame mahogany on the doors is superb and the whole piece has a wonderful patina. It has a solid panelled back and it comes with its original working key for the cupboard doors. The handles are not original but suit the piece well.
It is in good condition and has been gently cleaned and polished. The interior is clean and tidy and the drawers open smoothly. There are signs of age and use and there have been some repairs over the years. There are some minor marks, knocks and small shrinkage splits here and there but no major damages and overall it displays well.
