19th century
Description

Paul Édouard Rosset-Granger. A French genre and portrait painter who adopted the academic style. Born 1853 in Vincennes. He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris under Alexandre Cabanel, Édouard Louis Dubufe and Alexis-Joseph Mazerolle. He painted portraits, landscapes and genre works, and also made illustrations for the press and publishing houses. From 1878, he exhibited mythological and genre works at the Paris Salons and at the Sociéte nationale des beaux-arts, receiving medals in 1889 and 1890. From 1906 to 1909, he worked with Guillaume Dubufe on decorating the town hall in Saint-Mandé. In 1900, he was invited to paint Le Train blue for the Gare de Lyon restaurant in Paris.

In their style, colour, composition and choice of subjects, Rosset-Granger's works benefited from his familiarity with Bouguereau, Boulanger and Lefebvre.

We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
