Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Antique oak should be kept away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent wood splitting, dusted with a dry, soft cloth, and treated periodically with traditional beeswax to nourish the grain without building up synthetic residues.

An antique oak dresser grounds a modern interior by introducing rich texture and warmth; it can be contrasted with minimalist white walls and contemporary ceramics, or paired with neutral linens and modern lighting for a balanced, layered aesthetic.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-appropriate tool marks, hand-cut dovetailing with minor irregularities, uniform timber shrinkage, period secondary woods in drawer linings, and natural oxidisation and wear patterns consistent with age.

Georgian dressers were predominantly constructed from solid local timbers such as oak, elm, and fruitwood, featuring hand-cut dovetail joints on drawers, pegged mortise and tenon joints, and often fitted with brass drop handles and escutcheons.

The Georgian style spans the reigns of the first four British monarchs named George (1714 to 1830), characterised by classical proportions, symmetry, and an evolution from heavy oak construction to finer mahogany and walnut as craftsmanship advanced.
