Antique Victorian Mahogany Tall Chest of 5 DrawersAn amazing condition original chest of drawers.We are delighted to bring to you one of the finest examples of a rare Victorian (circa 1880) 5 deep descending drawer chest of drawers. This tall chest of drawers features the finest cuban flame grain book-matched Mahogany to the drawer fronts and the top fall moulded edge. This simple yet elegant chest of drawers is in an outstanding condition featuring its original beautiful French polished finish with a lovely deep Mahogany colour. The chest also features the finest quality original turned mahogany knobs with mother of pearl inlays to the centre. The finely dovetailed solid Mahogany drawers are in great condition, are smoothly operating and are very clean inside.This bank of drawers has one very large full depth bottom drawer which goes past the plinth to maximise space. As myths go, these were sometimes used as a cot for small babies which would be lined with blankets. The chest of drawers also stands on 4 bun feet.The chest has been restored in our workshop so is solid with no loose joints or wobbles and is free from woodworm. The drawers have had some of the drawer runners replaced and rebuilt as necessary so now have little to no wear and do not drop when opened. The chest of drawers has been carefully revived, cleaned and waxed, maintaining its original patina whilst giving a lovely natural sheen. This lovely restored chest of drawers is ready for a new home and good for many more years to come.Please note; This item is in fantastic condition for its age as shown by the photographs below.
