Grand Antique English Cast Brass Stationery Caddy / Inkstand - Reg. Number for 1886

Description

A magnificent and showy Victorian desk set made from solid cast brass. The set combines a stationery caddy which can obviously double up as a letter rack or holder, with an inkstand comprising of two large cut glass inkwells and a sander or pounce pot, all with brass lids. At the very front are two supports to hold a traditional dip pen.

The highly decorative brass work has a figural mask to the front panel, this is also present on the back, a true sign of quality as this piece can sit on a desk facing a room and look as finished from the back as the front; especially as it has now all been completely professionally re-polished to gleam.

The underside bears an English registration number 59137 which dates it to the year 1886.

Quite splendid to finish the best of desks. The footprint measures 11 1/2" x 9" and stands 8 1/4" tall at rear.
