FAQs

Brass beds gained immense popularity during the Victorian and Edwardian eras, following advancements in metal manufacturing and electroplating that allowed for durable, decorative metal furniture.

These beds typically feature solid brass tubing or brass-plated iron over a cast iron core, assembled with structural dovetail or wedge joints and supported by heavy-duty metal side rails.

Authentic period metal beds often show weightiness, hand-finished components, cast iron structural elements, and a natural oxidised patina rather than uniform modern lacquers.

Pairing a metallic bed frame with soft, neutral textiles, textured linens, and contrasting wood finishes creates a balanced focal point that bridges traditional and contemporary aesthetics.

Maintain the surface by dusting with a dry cloth and avoiding harsh chemical abrasives that can strip the natural protective patina developed over decades.
