A Top Quality Scottish Regency Mahogany Sofa

19th century
Description

Circa 1815. An exceptional quality Regency mahogany sofa. The shaped and curved back with a raised carved foliate section, the upholstered back, arms and seat with removable squab and cushions, the scrolling ends with foliate carving and finishing with a curling rondel, the seat rail profusely carved end to end. Resting on four exuberant reeded and carved saber legs with reeding on the facing with foliate carving on the top, finishing with a well-cast brass paw with brass castors beneath.
