This Neoclassical library bust depicts the Emperor Augustus, dating from around 1900. Made in England from painted plaster, the sculpture carries a dark brown finish with a good patina resembling polished marble. The figure wears a detailed laurel wreath atop wavy hair, with classical drapery wrapping the chest and shoulders, secured at the right shoulder by a decorative circular fibula brooch. The bust stands securely mounted on a rounded socle plinth with stepped mouldings around the circular base. The piece measures 67 cm high, 38 cm wide, and 18 cm deep.
