FAQs

Maintain the finish by dusting with a soft, dry cloth and applying natural beeswax periodically to nourish the timber, while protecting marble surfaces from acidic spills and moisture using coasters or trays.

Placing a classical commode against a minimalist neutral wall creates a striking focal point, allowing the historical craftsmanship to contrast effectively with contemporary surroundings.

Authentic pieces exhibit traditional joinery techniques such as hand-cut dovetails on drawer boxes, subtle irregularities in the wood grain or hand-chased bronze hardware, and period-appropriate construction methods lacking modern machine tooling.

These pieces were typically crafted from fine hardwoods such as oak, walnut, or mahogany, often featuring decorative veneer marquetry, gilt-bronze mounts, and topped with imported marble slabs.

The Louis XVI style emerged in France during the late 18th century as a reaction against Rococo extravagance, favouring classical symmetry, straight lines, geometric forms, and architectural motifs inspired by archaeological discoveries at Pompeii.
