Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A George III chest on chest, also called a tallboy, is a two-part wooden storage piece created during the reign of King George III in Britain. It features a upper chest of drawers mounted atop a slightly wider lower chest, designed to maximise vertical storage.

High-grade dense timbers such as West Indian mahogany were predominantly used for primary exterior surfaces. Secondary woods, including oak or pine, formed the drawer linings, while handles and escutcheons were cast from solid brass.

Authentic pieces display period construction techniques including hand-cut dovetail joints, hand-sawn timber backboards, original brassware shadow marks, and architectural details like dentil mouldings, blind fretwork, and bracket feet.

A tallboy serves as a strong vertical focal point in a master bedroom, dressing room, or hallway. The deep warm tones of the mahogany pair effectively against contemporary neutral backdrops, lime-washed plaster walls, or bold architectural artwork.

Dust regularly using a soft dry cloth and apply a high-quality bees-wax polish sparingly twice a year along the grain. Keep the item away from direct sunlight, radiators, and extreme fluctuations in humidity to prevent timber movement.
