We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

A potboard dresser base is a traditional lower storage cabinet featuring an open lower shelf, known as a potboard, originally designed to store earthenware pots and heavy utensils in rural kitchens.

These pieces were predominantly constructed from solid native English oak using traditional joinery methods such as mortise and tenon joints, pegged construction, and hand-cut dovetails on the drawers.

Authentic pieces exhibit period characteristics including hand-planed surfaces, irregular timber shrinkage, period-appropriate brass hardware, and hand-forged iron nails or wooden pegs rather than modern fixings.

Such pieces function effectively as sideboards in dining rooms, media consoles in living spaces, or serving surfaces in large kitchens, contrasting against neutral walls and minimalist modern decor.

Preservation involves maintaining stable indoor humidity levels away from direct heat sources and applying natural beeswax periodically to nourish the dry timber without forming a glossy synthetic buildup.
