FAQs

Art Deco sculpture, emerging prominently in the 1920s and 1930s, is characterised by stylised forms, geometric precision, and influences from modern machinery, aviation, and ancient civilisations, frequently depicting dynamic figures like dancers and athletes.

Sculptors of this era typically utilised cast bronze, often with silver or gilt patination, frequently mounted upon multi-coloured marble, onyx, or slate plinths, occasionally incorporating chryselephantine techniques combining bronze and carved ivory.

Authenticity is verified through foundry marks, artist signatures, casting quality, material weight, and natural patination or oxidisation consistent with age, alongside the precise styling typical of interwar European design.

This piece works well as a focal point on a dark wood sideboard, mantelpiece, or glass-fronted display cabinet, paired with complementary geometric accessories and neutral or deeply saturated backdrops.

Dust gently with a soft, dry microfibre cloth, avoiding chemical cleaning agents, abrasive materials, or excessive moisture which can damage patinated metal surfaces or porous stone bases.
