Description

This cute watercolour shows a small curly-haired boy in a garden landscape entertaining his pet dog by playing his toy drum. Smartly dressed, he wears a blue tunic over pantaloons and black bootees and frilled ankle socks.

The watercolour is dated May 1855 and is housed in a flat profile bird’s eye maple veneer frame with a (rather tarnished) gilt slip. The watercolour has age-browning as would be expected.

This would make a wonderful addition to a collection of folk art.
