Walter Roche, born in Versailles France the son of a clergy which meant he was a British subject he was famous as a sculptor and primarily made bronzes of equestrian figures, he exhibited the royal academy and the Walker art gallery.
He lived mainly in Yorkshire, but retired to the grange in tasburgh in the early 1900s
