Antique Early Metalware Single 17thc Bronze Mortar with Charles 11 Motif . English C1660-80

Description

A fine 17thc English bronze mortar.... decorated with a crowned head of Charles 11, to celebrate the restoration of the monarchy after Cromwell....which is illustrated in Michael Finlay's book on English Decorated Bronze Mortars on page 81 illustration 138....he lists it as coming from a London "unidentified" foundry .... the mortar is in excellent condition with a good colour.
