Very finely cast and with intricate detail. Signed Pinedo in the bronze and with a Paris foundry mark. A charming figure. French c 1890.The multi coloured patina is a great example of this talented sculptor. Excellent original condition. A little foxing to the mirror and light wear to the body of the figure. Emile Pinèdo (1840-1916) -French sculptor and medalist. Emile Pinedo was a French sculptor born in 1840, he was known for producing high quality bronzes of mainly figural subjects succeeding his father in 1865 in ownership of the Pinedo foundry. He made his at the Paris Salon in 1870. He also exhibited at the Chicago exhibition in 1893 .

Pinèdo, seduced by exoticism, produced many orientalist subjects such as Arab on the move, The Slave, Departure for Mecca, all of superb, fine detail.
to make press-moulded, glass vases in his factory in the Alsace region of France.
