Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Grand Tour classical engravings are fine art prints depicting ancient Greek and Roman art, architecture, and statuary, produced predominantly during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. They served as scholarly mementos for European aristocrats undertaking educational travels across the Mediterranean.

Authentic period engravings were printed via copperplate intaglio processes onto handmade rag paper, leaving a distinct indented plate mark. Framing usually featured dark or gilded wood mouldings, often paired with hand-lined wash mats to frame the subject.

Genuine antique prints display a visible impression line around the artwork caused by the heavy printing plate, alongside fine hand-engraved line hatching. Under magnification, authentic period prints lack the uniform dot matrix pattern characteristic of modern digital reproductions.

Position framed classical prints in symmetrical pairs or grids above a sideboard, console table, or mantelpiece. Their linear monochrome composition provides visual balance and historical depth in both contemporary minimalist spaces and classic traditional interiors.

Position artworks away from direct sunlight, radiator heat sources, and damp environments to prevent paper discolouration and foxing. Dust gilded frames gently using a soft, dry camel-hair brush, avoiding water or chemical sprays that degrade delicate gold leaf finishes.
