Japanese Bronze Of The Great Buddha At Kamakura

As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this Meiji Period 1868-1912, finely rendered bronze study of the great Buddha at the Kotoku-in at Kamakura, a most enchanting okimono of this iconic statue simply robed and sat cross legged with its hands in its lap in quiet contemplation. A seal to the reverse reads Kiyomitsu Saku and refers to the Meiji Period artist, a most serene and captivating Japanese bronze that would bring a sense of peace and tranquility into your home.
 
Literature : 
 
The great bronze Buddha of Kamakura, which replaced the original wooden Buddha in the 13th century is now deemed a Japanese national treasure, it apparently weighs approx 121 tonnes and stands 48 feet high, whilst it is clearly sat in the grounds of a Buddhist temple in the Kanagawa Perfecture, it is widely known as the Buddha that welcomes all people, the inclusive Buddha.
