This fabulous WEDGWOOD CREAMWARE JUG is decorated in VARIEGATED LUSTRE, sometimes called MOONLIGHT LUSTRE. It dates from circa 1810.The colours, achieved by “a solution of gold with a little tin mixed with Sweet Wort and laid on with a feather”, are amazing and set off by gilt banding.The JUG bears the impressed Wedgwood mark to the base.The condition is good. There is a small, thin surface chip to the underside of the lip and two small star cracks to the main body.
