How do I clean waxed pine drawers?

Dust surfaces regularly with a soft, dry cloth to prevent dirt accumulation in the grain. Apply a traditional beeswax sparingly when the timber appears dry, buffing gently to maintain a soft sheen.

Are these drawers suitable for daily use?

These pieces were built for robust everyday storage in domestic and commercial settings. Modern daily use presents no problem provided the drawer runners remain clean and free from excessive moisture.

How do I distinguish Victorian from Georgian pine?

Georgian pine furniture typically exhibits finer proportions and hand-cut dovetails with simpler brass hardware. Victorian pieces often appear heavier, sometimes utilising pitch pine and machine-sawn components alongside stencilled finishes.

Should I paint or wax raw pine?

Many pieces survive with traces of original paint or unpolished timber suited to traditional waxing. Applying a clear wax nourishes dry pine, whereas modern paints alter the historic surface character entirely.
