Where should I place an edwardian standing mirror?

These pieces suit bedrooms, dressing rooms, and wide hallways where full-length reflection is useful. Their freestanding design allows placement against a wall without permanent fixtures. Ensure the floor is level so the frame stands firmly and the pivoting glass functions smoothly without slipping.

How do I distinguish Edwardian from Victorian mirrors?

Edwardian examples tend to feature lighter timbers like satinwood, delicate marquetry inlay, and slender frames. Victorian pieces often display heavier proportions, darker mahogany or walnut, and bolder carved ornaments. Construction methods and timber selection remain the most reliable indicators of the period.

Are these mirrors heavy to move?

Yes, because they combine dense hardwood frames with thick glass plates. The base adds substantial weight to keep the tall structure stable. It is best to lift the piece from the base rather than the upper frame when relocating it.
