What is a coffor bach?

A coffor bach is a traditional Welsh miniature coffer made from local oak during the eighteenth century. Families presented them as gifts for weddings, christenings, or significant birthdays. Inside, they often contain a small internal till for keeping coins or jewellery, sitting above a drawer in the base.

How should I care for dark oak?

Maintain dark oak pieces by keeping them away from direct heat sources and strong sunlight that can dry out the timber. Dust them regularly with a dry cloth and apply occasional wax to nourish the grain. Avoid liquid polishes containing silicones, which build up on the surface and dull the antique finish.
