This George II lowboy dates from the 18th century and is made of mahogany with a warm brown finish. The table features a veneered top above an arrangement of two short drawers and one long drawer, fitted with brass batwing backplates and swing handles. A slightly shaped apron descends to four cabriole legs terminating in pad feet with unusual ribbed ankles. The timber exhibits a rich grain and good surface condition throughout. Measuring 74 cm high, 77 cm wide and 51 cm deep, this practical side table serves well as an accent piece in a hallway, bedroom or living area today.

A lowboy is a small table with drawers designed during the 18th century, primarily used as a dressing table or side table in Georgian interiors.

George II lowboys were typically constructed from solid mahogany or walnut, featuring hand-dovetailed drawer joints and cast brass backplates with swan-neck handles.

Authentic 18th-century pieces display signs of hand-planing on non-visible surfaces, oak or pine drawer linings, dovetail joinery, and natural age-related wear around the feet and handles.

A Georgian lowboy functions well as a hallway console, accent table, or bedside table when paired with a contemporary mirror or curated ceramics.

Dust regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth and apply beeswax polish once or twice a year, keeping the item away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight.
