His works often show country life in their natural environment.

He, along with many of his peers, prospered during the late 19th Century, winning many patrons from the emerging middle class. With the advent of Industrial Age a new, wealthy social class prospered and eagerly demanded the acquisition of art in order to show off their cultural appreciation. The majority of these patrons lived in the industrial towns of England, which were often smoky and dirty places in which to dwell. As a reaction, there evolved a great demand for landscapes. Maidment’s paintings provided an escape into a clean and idealised countryside.

Maidment exhibited at many galleries and works by the artist have now become popular with both the private and public collectors.
