First Period Worcester porcelain, produced from 1751 to 1783, is characterised by its fine paste composition, early soft-paste formulations, and delicate hand-painted polychrome or blue-and-white chinoiserie and landscape decorations.

Early Worcester items utilized a soft-paste porcelain body containing soapstone (steatite), which improved thermal shock resistance and allowed for finer potting and intricate detailing.

Authentic pieces often feature early crescent, square fret, or workman marks underneath, along with characteristic baseline glaze pooling, translucent qualities under strong light, and period-appropriate enamel colours.

Displaying historical ceramics within modern interiors involves integrating them inside glass-fronted cabinets, open shelving, or placing them on accent surfaces to introduce heritage texture and curated detail.

Antique porcelain should be hand-washed gently in lukewarm water using mild soap, avoiding abrasive scrubbers or ultrasonic cleaners, and kept out of direct sunlight to protect delicate overglaze enamels and gilding.
