FAQs

Early 20th-century Japanese bronze animal sculptures reflect a high point in traditional metal casting techniques, blending naturalist observation with historical craftsmanship often destined for export or domestic connoisseurs.

These pieces are typically created using traditional lost-wax casting methods with high-grade copper alloys, finished with chemical patination to achieve deep brown or bronze tones.

Authenticity is determined by evaluating the weight, consistency of the cast, natural wear of the patina, and often the presence of artist signatures or foundry seals carved into the base.

Placing the sculpture on a mantelpiece, bookshelf, or side table allows it to serve as a sophisticated focal point that introduces organic texture and historical depth to a modern space.

Bronze should be kept out of direct sunlight and high humidity, dusting gently with a soft, dry cloth without applying harsh chemical polishes that could strip the historical patina.
