Tiered tables gained significant popularity during the Georgian and Edwardian periods, utilized primarily as versatile display and occasional surfaces in drawing rooms and parlours.

Authentic pieces are typically constructed from solid mahogany or mahogany veneers, featuring turned upright supports, mortise and tenon joinery, and intricate marquetry or string inlay.

Authentication involves examining timber shrinkage, hand-cut dovetails or joinery marks, patination, and the type of secondary woods used in the hidden structural components.

This piece works effectively as a functional accent surface beside a sofa or in an unused corner, contrasting cleanly against minimalist modern furnishings to add texture and historical depth.

Maintenance requires dusting with a soft, dry cloth and periodically applying high-quality beeswax to nourish the wood, avoiding direct sunlight and excessive moisture fluctuations.
