This magnificent Victorian Flemish Renaissance Revival hall stand is constructed from solid dark brown oak with glass, brass and zinc elements. The imposing piece measures 242 cm high, 202 cm wide and 51 cm deep. An elaborate carved cresting pediment surmounts the structure, which incorporates figurative relief panels, a central rectangular bevelled mirror, integrated metal drip trays, and brass coat hooks. The base rests upon neat bun feet and includes a central glove drawer beneath a writing surface, flanked by carved continental standing figures. Distinctive details comprise extensive figurative carvings, turned spindles, ornate mouldings and brass hardware. Suitable for a grand entrance hall or reception area today, this substantial piece provides functional storage for coats, hats, gloves and umbrellas. The integrated zinc drip trays catch moisture from wet items, while the central mirror and display surfaces offer practical utility near an entryway. The heavy oak construction and elaborate woodwork make it a striking focal point in period or eclectic interiors.

Originating in or influenced by nineteenth-century Flemish revival design, a Flemish hall stand is an entryway furniture piece featuring relief wood carvings, integrated coat hooks, mirrors, and umbrella drip trays.

These pieces are predominantly constructed from solid oak, featuring brass hooks, bevelled glass mirrors, and metal drip trays designed to collect water from umbrellas.

Authentic pieces feature hand-carved relief panels displaying hand-tooling marks, original brass hardware with natural oxidisation, hand-cut joinery on drawers, and signs of age near the base.

Position the piece in a spacious hall or foyer as a primary focal point, pairing the dark oak timber with pale wall surfaces to emphasize the carved detail.

Dust the carved surfaces regularly with a soft bristle brush, apply high-quality beeswax twice yearly to protect the oak timber, and clean glass surfaces with a microfibre cloth.
