Eighteenth century portraits typically feature classical compositions, rich fabric details, and formal subjects, often reflecting the status and lineage of nobility.

These pieces were typically rendered in oil paints on stretched canvas or wood panels, housed within heavily carved and gilded wooden frames.

Authentication involves examining canvas age, craquelure patterns, pigment analysis, stretcher frame construction, and historical provenance documentation.

Pairing classical oil paintings with contemporary furnishings creates a striking juxtaposition that adds depth, character, and sophistication to a room.

Keep paintings away from direct sunlight and extreme humidity fluctuations, and consult a professional conservator for cleaning or frame restoration.
