In the foreground, the churned earth of a furrowed track winds towards a distant vanishing point. A partially obscured cottage draws the eye. While above, the ominous brooding clouds droop above the horizon, where a strip of brilliant gold radiates like a stoked fire.
Williams’ masterly handling renders the view with both attention to detail and evocative tonality. There’s a romantic undertone coupled with exquisite details. He takes us there, amid the brisk wind and long undulant shadows. Immersed in the omnipresent glow of the golden hour.
