Culvertons has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
Its bold and cleverly designed turned and carved feet may possibly link it to the Channel Islands, but wherever it originates from they definitely give this chest the decorative edge over many of its counterparts. Its last home was a historic house in Chichester, West Sussex, where, looking at its current good condition, (please see images) it was very well looked after. We think, like the other antique furniture within the property, this piece was also professionally restored at some stage in its past. The drawers, which have their full complement of original turned and embellished wooden knobs, run effortlessly, the surface has been traditionally finished, and the colour and graining of the mahogany are very appealing. There are, as you would expect when considering its age, slight imperfections but overall it's a lovely chest of drawers which represents great value.
