Georgian Mahogany Inlaid Bachelors Chest of Drawers (George Ii/iii)

Description

George II / III period, Bachelors or Gentlemans compact chest of drawers with brushing slide, Circa 1760. This handsome chest of drawers with oblong shaped well figured top, ebony and boxwood strung and crossbanded border, with moulded edge. Over brushing slide with cockbeaded edge, and pair of brass pull handles. Bank of four, well figured, full width drawers, all graduated in height, with cockbeaded edges, double swan neck brass handles with batwing back plates, matching brass escutcheons and locks. All flanked by fluted canted corners, with larks tongue chamfer. Raised on bracket feet. Oak drawer linings, and solid mahogany frame.

A particularly handsome, high quality chest of drawers, in very good condition. Very serviceable and ready to use.

Dimensions:

This chest of drawers measures approximately 84 cm (33") tall, 88 cm (34.5") wide, and 49 cm (19") deep.

Condition:

Please see the pictures for details of the items condition. - This chest of drawers is in a very good condition, commensurate with its age, and is structurally very sound and sturdy. Only minor odd marks and blemishes. A couple of minor, high quality, sympathetic repairs. Swan neck handles are replacements, but are period and style appropriate, and there is no noticeable evidence, particularly viewing the front of the chest, that these have been changed. Couple of the locks have been replaced. Otherwise chest is original. Very serviceable, all in good working order, and ready to use. - As with all vintage & antique furniture there will be signs of use, marks, wear & tear, etc.
