A George III period, chest of drawers, Circa 1810. This straight front chest of drawers with oblong shaped top with partially rounded edge and square corners. Over bank of very well figured drawers, configured 2 small drawers over 3 full width drawers, all graduated in height, and with cock-beaded edges. Featuring the original brass round knob handles, with brass escutcheons, locks and working key. All raised on short turned feet. The construction is solid mahogany, some mahogany veneers, with pine secondary timbers and drawer linings.
This handsome chest of drawers is in good original condition, and apart from one replaced lock and some minor sympathetic repairs, remains unmolested. Never French polished. We have given it a clean and wax, and the handles a gentle buff.
Very similar in style and stature to an undoubtable Gillows chest of drawers, which I have compared it to. By way of its design, size, handles, and even the legs, though the Gillows example were fluted, not ringed
