This George I burr elm chest was made circa 1720.
 
The colour and patina of this stunning George I chest is just stunning.
 
This is a fabulous chest of drawers with the stunning choice of the Burr Elm to the drawer fronts.
 
The top and sides veneered in walnut that has interesting swirls in the grain, finishing with a good deep cross banding around the top and sides.
 
Running around the drawers and plinth you have the end grain walnut mouldings; this gives the chest an incredible uplift. Having the sectional end grain moulding shows the expertise of the cabinetmaker, who took the desired time to make this to a superior standard.
 
If you are looking for a superb chest of drawers you will be hard pressed to find anything in its league.
