Tom Dudley (1857-1935) was born in York and first trained as an architect. He took lessons from William James Boddy and is known for his townscapes mainly painted in watercolours. His work was shown in public and private galleries throughout the U.K.

"College Street, York" is a watercolour measuring 9"x 6". It is signed lower right and inscribed with the title "College Street, York" lower left. It is framed in the original gilt frame giving an overall size of 16"x 13".
