Vintage 1930s Swiss Pocket Watch and Chain

Vintage 1930s Recta pocket watch and chain.

The watch has a good quality stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is not signed but has been identified as by Recta.

The Recta Watch Company was originally founded in Bienne), Switzerland in 1897. The company was originally called Muller & Vaucher Fabrique d’Horlogerie. The name Recta was registered in 1898. The company became famous for high quality precision pocket watches and chronometers. In 1917, the company name was changed again to Recta SA Fabrique d’Horlogerie in 1917.

The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which has an indentation.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is the gold filled Moon model from the Birmingham based Dennison Watch Case Company. The company supplied cases for movements imported from Switzerland, thus avoiding import taxes on precious metals. There are a few small marks to the sides of the watch but nothing too serious.

The glass lens is in good condition (some reflection showing in the photos).

The dial is in beautiful condition with original blued steel hands, a sunken subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers.

The watch comes with a single chain, 30cm long, and a fob commemorating the British Empire Exhibition at Wembley in 1924.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
