Antique 1911 Silver Pocket Watch and Chain

The watch has a gilt stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 44mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside both of the case backs for London (import mark), 1911 with a sponsor’s mark for George Stockwell.

From 1 June 1907, Stockwells acted as assay agents, facilitating the import into Britain of foreign gold and silver items which had to be assayed and hallmarked in a UK assay office before being released for retail.

The case is in lovely condition, as is the acrylic lens.

The dial has blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers. There are a couple of short hairlines radiating from the centre but they are faint.

The watch comes with a silver chain, 32cm long including the T-bar and the clasp. Each of the links on the chain have the lion silver mark, and the clasp has a date letter for 1912.

The watch and chain come in a new presentation box.
