The Vintage Wrist Watch Company has dated this piece to the 1890s.
The watch has a stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The inner dust cover states that the movement is a demi-chronomètre, the definition of which is a movement where the lever and chronometer escapements are combined or the watch has been adjusted for temperature, a good quality movement.

The inner cover is also signed Jk Petitpoint, Berne, probably the original retailer of the watch.
The watch measures 49mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are Continental marks for 800 silver inside the two case backs.

The acrylic lens is in good condition.
The dial is in very nice condition, pin-set hands, sunken subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute track.
The watch comes with a single chain, 24cm long including the T-bar and the clasp. The T-bar and clasp are hallmarked for 1897, and each of the links has the silver lion mark. Also included is an 1897 fob which has initials, possibly HB or BH but quite difficult to make out.
The watch and chain come in a new presentation box.
