Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Produced during the reign of King George III (17601820), copper jugs from this period were functional household objects designed to carry water. They typically feature hand-hammered copper bodies, brazed construction seams, and sturdy riveted handles made from brass or heavy copper.

These jugs were crafted from sheet copper that was shaped by hand using planishing hammers. Components were joined using dovetail or lap seams sealed with hard solder, while cast brass handles were secured using copper rivets. The interior was often lined with tin to prevent chemical reactions with water.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-planished surface indentations, visible dovetail joint seams, and copper rivets securing the handle. Authentic age displays natural oxidisation, slight surface irregularities, and signs of historical wear on the base and neck.

An antique copper jug functions as a decorative focal point on a kitchen island, sideboard top, or rustic dining table. It can be displayed empty to showcase its hand-hammered texture or used to hold dried botanical arrangements.

Clean gently using a soft cloth and warm soapy water, avoiding harsh abrasive chemical cleaners that strip historical patina. Applying a thin coat of microcrystalline wax preserves the natural oxidisation and protects the copper from moisture damage.
