Antique silver Seeland pocket watch and chain.

The watch has a stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement has been identified as by Factory d'Horlogerie Seeland of Madretsch and La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland who registered the brand name Seeland in 1903. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which has some unevenness. It also has a previous owner’s name lightly scratched into it.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are Continental hallmarks for 935 silver inside both of the case backs, together with the Seeland mark. The front of the watch is in good condition while the case back has fairly gentle unevenness.

The watch has a glass lens. A couple of faint marks to the main face of the lens, and a small chip to the edge which has been filled over the years with a black substance.

The dial is in good condition with blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers.

The watch comes with a single silver chain which measures 31cm long including the T-bar and the clasp. Each of the links has a silver mark although some have rubbed over the years. Also included is a 1916 silver fob.

The watch and chain come in a new presentation box.
