A Louis XV Style Kingwood Chest of Drawers Stamped Torrez

19th century
Description

A Second Empire kingwood commode or chest of drawers in the Louis XV style, the top mounted with a shaped violette marble with a moulded edge, over a bombé body with all over parquetry veneers and with gilt bronze mounts and handles, on outswept supports with gilt brass sabots, stamped TORREZ under the marble, with other stamps, French, circa 1860.

Condition: Excellent, the piece is in very good condition, the marble has no breaks or cracks, the veneers are in excellent condition, as are the gilt brass mounts. The drawers run well, and overall the piece has a lovely colour and patina.
