Art Deco animalier sculpture flourished during the 1920s and 1930s, focusing on stylised representations of animals, marine life, and nature using modern geometric forms and sleek metallic finishes.

These decorative objects were typically crafted using cast bronze, brass, or spelter, frequently mounted upon heavy plinths constructed from veined marble or onyx.

Authenticity is generally determined by examining casting quality, patina oxidation, wear patterns on the base, and specific stylistic hallmarks such as stylisation and foundry signatures.

Such sculptures serve as focal points on mantelpieces, bookshelves, or sideboards, contrasting well against minimalist backgrounds or pairing with other metallic accents.

Maintenance involves dusting with a soft, dry cloth and occasionally applying neutral microcrystalline wax to protect the metal patina, avoiding chemical cleaners entirely.
