Antique Buren silver pocket watch for James Walker.

The watch has a 15 jewel Swiss stem-winding movement, identified as by Buren, which is working nicely. The movement is signed with the name of the original retailer of the watch, James Walker, and also with the name Admiralty. Several watch makers and retailers used the word Admiralty as a marketing ploy, implying status, quality and reliability.

The movement is protected by an inner cover.

The watch measures 52.3mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside both of the case backs for Birmingham 1924, together with a maker’s marks for Aaron Dennison, the Birmingham based case maker and supplier to various watch makers. The front and sides of the case are in good condition. The hinged case back has some mild bruising and light wear to the engine turned detail although very acceptable for a 1920s piece

The glass lens has general marks and a couple of tiny nibbles to the outer edge but to the naked eye it is in nice condition

The signed dial blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers. The dial is in nice condition.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
