Description

William Greaves (1852-1938) was born in Leeds and studied at Sheffield College of Art. He travelled and exhibited widely at galleries including the Royal Academy, Royal Cambrian Academy, Manchester and Liverpool. He worked mostly in oils and his subjects include landscapes in and around Wharfedale in Yorkshire and Sherwood Forest in Nottinghamshire.

This oil painting on canvas of Aberdovey (Aberdyfi) in Wales measures 10"x 14" and is signed lower right. It is in a hand made gilt frame giving an overall size of 17"x 21".
