Antique 1932 silver high grade pocket watch with chain.

The watch has a Swiss stem-winding movement which is working nicely. We have not been able to identify the movement precisely but believe it to be based on an ebauche used by either Jaeger LeCoultre or Patek Phillipe. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which has some scratching from where it has been opened in the past.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside both of the case backs for London (import mark) 1932, with a sponsor’s mark for George Stockwell.

From 1 June 1907, Stockwells acted as assay agents, facilitating the import into Britain of foreign gold and silver items which had to be assayed and hallmarked in a UK assay office before being released for retail.

The case is in lovely condition and the engine turned detail to the back is still nice and crisp.

The acrylic lens is in good condition.

The dial looks good to the naked eye… if viewed through a jeweller’s loupe, there are a couple of faint hairlines running down from number 12. Blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers.

The watch comes with an antique silver double albert, with each chain measuring 23cm long including the T-bar and the clasp.

The watch and chain come in a new presentation box.
