Antique 1912 Elgin half hunter pocket watch.

The watch has a 7 jewel stem-winding movement, grade 292 ,which is working well. The movement is signed Elgin Nat’l Watch Co USA and it has the serial number 16892598 which dates it back to 1912. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 51mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is gold plated and is the Cyclone model made by the Keystone Watch Case Company. The case has light surface marking from use and a couple of small “dings” to the front cover but overall it is in nice condition. The small acrylic lens is in nice condition. The case back has monogrammed initials.

The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover which reveals a larger glass lens which is in nice condition.

The white enamel dial has several very faint hairline cracks to the bottom although only noticeable with a jewellers loupe.

The watch has blued steel hands designed so that the time can be read when the front cover is closed … with conventional hands, it would be impossible to tell which hand was which through the small lens.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
