1930s Thomas Russell gold plated wrist watch.

The watch has a good quality Swiss hand-winding movement, signed Thos Russell & Son, which is working nicely.

Thomas Russell & Son was a well respected business having achieved a Royal Warrant as watch and clock makers to the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh.

In 1881 the company started importing movements from Switzerland, such as the one we have in this particular watch.

The watch measures 22mm wide excluding the winding crown and 33mm high excluding the lugs. Originally it would have been a man’s watch but, by today’s standards, it would suit a slimmer wrist. The case is gold plated, there is wear but the base metal is brass which means the wear is not so noticeable, and most is to the back of the watch.

The lens is in good condition, just a little marking underneath but you have to look closely to see it.

The signed dial is in its original finish with original hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers. There is some darkening and marking to the dial but all very acceptable.

A new leather strap has been fitted.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
